20. Shiny Rocks and the Geometry of the Earth

Career Field – Environmental Science

What is the Earth made of? The building blocks of the Earth are minerals, which make up the rocks that shape our landscapes, nutrients that sustain life, and beautiful gemstones. We will do some fun exercises using common minerals to learn how they make-up rocks and gems, and how they are used in everyday life. While we play with shiny minerals we will see how geometry shows up in nature, why some rocks are stronger than others, and find out where the gems and jewels of the world come from. We will also learn how identify different rocks, minerals, and gems.

Leader – Nicole Myers
