Pretend you have the lead in a project to design a new
hangout downtown for yourself and your friends. What will it
look like? How will it fit into the design of downtown and
attract kids to go there? Come to this workshop and create
your own plan!
Leader - Lois Fisher
Lois Fisher is the president of
Fisher Town Design Inc. of Santa Rosa, California. She is a
graduate of Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Her firm designs walk
able neighborhoods and towns. They make new planning rules
for those cities and developers that want a walk able
alternative to suburban sprawl’s conventional car- and
use-based planning codes. Lois was director of design for
the team that designed the Central Petaluma Specific Plan
and SmartCode; the first adopted Smart Code in the U.S. She
is completing SmartCodes for downtown Sebastopol and Ukiah.
She is also working for Codding Enterprises on a SmartCode
for the 200 acre mixed-use, walk able reuse design of the
former Agilent campus in Rohnert Park. She served on the
Windsor Planning Commission for 7 years.
Co-Leader - April Owens
April Owens is a graduate of
the U.C. Berkeley Extension Certificate in Landscape
Architecture program. She owns April Owens Design, a
landscape design company that creates gardens using
California native plants and sustainable materials and
methods.
